ASSAULT AND BATTERY: Electric Scooter Explodes Seconds After It Started Charging

A tenant had to have firefighters intervene when their electric scooter suddenly burst into flames after only half a minute of charging.

The tenant, who was not named but lives in Changzhou City, in Jiangsu Province, reportedly ended up with a loss of almost GBP 6,000 in damages as a result of the blaze.

It all began when the person, who was staying in a rental house in the city, connected their electric scooter to a charger.

Shockingly, just 28 seconds later, the vehicle sparked up a giant explosion.

CCTV footage shows how the hallway where the scooter was being charged was instantly filled with fumes.

The smoke from the fire then became so thick that it blocked off the view from the camera in a matter of seconds.

Another tenant reportedly cut off the main power source upon discovering the burning scooter and even used two fire extinguishers, but failed to put out the fire.

Firefighters were then called in to intervene and put out the flames.

The fire reportedly covered an area of more than 200 square meters and caused a loss of more than CNY 50,000 (GBP 5,900).

Soon after, footage of the incident wound up on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok.

It was apparently shared as a cautionary tale for all those who practice indoor charging.
