Lawyers for the 26-year-old Pakistani man have requested the man’s mental health be examined in a last ditch attempt to have the death against him sentence overturned.

The court heard he broke into the family’s house in the city of Fujairah in the emirate of the same name where he repeatedly stabbed 39-year-old Suzan Al Qudat to death.

He then stabbed the victim’s 11-year-old daughter nine times and her nine-year-old brother five times before targeting the maid.

The frenzied attack happened on 23rd March 2017 and the suspect was arrested within half an hour of the alleged incident.

Under interrogation, the suspect reportedly said that he only intended to rob the house.

The victim’s children, identified as Natalie Al Mansoori and brother Hamad, and maid were treated for their injuries at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.

The youngsters were informed of their mum’s death by their father Ibrahim Al Mansoori, according to reports.

While receiving treatment, they were visited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister.

In the trial the defendant denied intending to kill the victim, but was convicted of premeditated murder, attempted murder and attempted theft last March.

His death sentence has been appealed and the hearing has been adjourned for the man’s psychological condition to be assessed.

It is unclear when the next court hearing will take place.
