This is the moment an American man smashes up a shop in Cambodia and accuses the shopkeeper of being racist for not selling him bottled water because he is white.

The incident was filmed in the city of Kampot in the southern Cambodian province of the same name.

The video was shared on Facebook by the store owner, identified as ‘Asrey Kampot’, where it was widely circulated and prompted widespread anger.

According to the Khmer Times, the unnamed man, identified as a US national, insulted a shopkeeper and caused damage to her minimarket because she refused to sell him bottled water.

Reports said the American man reacted angrily to the refusal and insulted the shopkeeper while not wearing a face mask or a helmet for his motorbike, both required under current laws.

‘Asrey Kampot’ appealed for help to identify the American man and bring him to justice, saying: “Please help the international community catch a foreigner who destroyed my goods and abused my body without knowing the reason why. I hope that the police will help to find justice.”

Reports said the American national was arrested by the local police just a few hours afterwards.

Meanwhile, many netizens said the man should be sent to prison and sent back to his country after his sentence as well as pay for the damage caused.

However, it remains unclear if the American man’s accusations of racism will be looked into.

In the footage, he is heard calling the shopkeeper a “racist c*nt” for refusing to sell him water, accusing her of not serving him because he is white.

A large number of foreign nationals live in Kampot, which has suffered in the last year due to the collapse of the tourism industry, the main means of income for many expats living there.
