An American mature student in Russia who had breast enhancement surgery, reportedly so she could meet a man, has vanished after driving off in a car with one following her surgery.
Catherine Serou, 34, a student from the US, was last seen near her home in the town of Bor Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, at around 9.00 pm on Tuesday (15th June).
Before disappearing, Catherine sent one last message to her mum which read: “I’m in the car with a stranger. I hope I haven’t been kidnapped.”
She has not been seen since, and friends and family are now worried about her safety.

She was described as shy and introverted and although she had met a man while in Russia, the relationship had fizzled out, after which she had decided to have the breast operation.
Police have contacted the estranged boyfriend who she met through a dating app, and he confirmed that he had not seen her for some time after things cooled down, and he had also not been trying to contact her.
The last person to see her, who was not identified, told police that they recognised Catherine near her home from the tattoo on her leg.
Catherine’s mother, who was not named, told Life that the message she got saying that she had gone off with a stranger was a surprise as her shyness meant she did not communicate much with anyone, and certainly not with strangers.
The mother, who first reported the disappearance, said that she contacted her daughter’s university after she stopped responding to her calls and messages.
Catherine is currently enrolled in a law degree at the Lobachevsky University in Nizhny Novgorod which she reportedly chose over a US university because it’s considerably cheaper.
Catherine’s mother added that she thinks her daughter’s phone is either broken or turned off as messages are no longer being delivered.
According to the woman’s landlord, she was a good tenant who rarely had people over at the flat and spent her spare time drawing and making money as a part-time online English teacher.
The investigation which has been opened as a murder case is ongoing. It is not clear why authorities are treating the disappearance as a murder case.
