Allegri Says Atletico Make Every Team Play Bad

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has said that Atletico Madrid have made every team they play against look bad for “eight years” and says Cristiano Ronaldo played well.

Allegri was speaking after his side’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last night in the Champions League.

The Juventus boss said: “You have to look who we were playing against. For eight years Atletico have made every team they play against play poorly. Juve didn’t play with arrogance, to play against Atletico you need to be patient and clinical.

“Atletico are different to all other teams. When you play against them there aren’t any great chances. They are really strong, in Turin we’ll have to be more precise and play quicker.”

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Madrid, Allegri said: “Ronaldo played a good match. He’s used to these types of matches. He didn’t disappoint tonight, we made mistakes as a team in the second half. This match with serve as a lesson for the return leg.”

Central defenders Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin both scored late into the match to hand Atletico Madrid the victory after former Chelsea striker had a header ruled out by VAR.

The return leg in Turin will be held on 12th March.
