An Alabama mother and her boyfriend have been arrested for killing her 15-month-old son, who suffered a fatal skull fracture.
Little Emery Michael-Knox Wilson died in hospital in the city of Birmingham in the US state of Alabama on 13th April 2021.
The toddler’s mother Jordan Ellan Harmon, 27, and her then-boyfriend Travius Sebastion Coleman, 28, have been arrested in connection with his death.
Lawrence County Alabama Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) shared images of the suspects on social media on 26th January with the message: “On April 11th, 2021, Lawrence County Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 24 and County Road 214 where they meet with a person that was performing CPR on a toddler in the floorboard of a minivan.
“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and the toddler was transported to Decatur-Morgan Hospital. The toddler was transported from Decatur-General to Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham for a higher level of care.
“On April 12th, 2021, the mother of the toddler Jordan Ellan Harmon then age 26 of Moulton was charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and booked into the Lawrence County Jail with a 60,000 dollar bond.
“On April 13th, 2021, the toddler Emery Michael-Knox Wilson (M) age 15 months was pronounced dead. An autopsy was ordered to determine the cause of the toddler’s death.
“On September 17th, 2021, Jordan Ellan Harmon was released from the Lawrence County Jail after posting bond.
“On January 25th, 2022, Travius Sebastion Coleman age 28 of Moulton was brought in for questioning regarding the results of the autopsy.”
LCSO added: “Mr. Coleman was arrested and charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Child Abuse, one (1) count of Chemical Endangerment to a Child, and Murder.
“Mr. Coleman was booked in the Lawrence County Jail bond will be set by the court. Mr. Coleman at the time of Emery Wilson’s death was a boyfriend to the toddler’s mother Jordan Harmon.
“On January 26th, 2022, Jordan Ellan Harmon age 27 of Moulton was brought in for questioning regarding the results of the autopsy. Harmon was taken into custody at her place of employment in Decatur.
“Harmon was arrested and charged with one (1) count of Aggravated Child Abuse, one (1) count of Chemical Endangerment to a Child, and Murder. Harmon was booked in the Lawrence County Jail bond will be set by the court.”
The police said: “Sheriff Max Sanders states that the results of the autopsy that was conducted on Emery Michael-Knox Wilson age 15 months indicated the toddler died from blunt force trauma to the head.
“The toddler had abrasions, contusions and lacerations to the scalp, a depressed skull fracture and a fractured left forearm. Toxicology from the toddler indicated the presence of cannabinoids.”
The investigation is ongoing.
