This is the moment a large pod of dolphins jump and frolic in the sea alongside cheering fishermen.

The incident was filmed in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Dibulla in the northern Colombian department of La Guajira, and the footage has been viewed 60,000 times on Twitter.

According to local media, Julio Miguel filmed the dolphins with his phone while on his way to catch fish in the Caribbean waters.

In the video, a large pod of dolphins is seen repeatedly leaping above the surface next to the boat before diving back under.

The Colombian fisherman is heard yelling in excitement at the dolphins surrounding his boat.

At the end of the clip, the cameraperson pans to a pod of dolphins swimming beneath the surface alongside the fishing vessel.

The video was accompanied with the message: “Stunning dolphin sighting in Dibulla. Here in La Guajira, the environment and the planet can breathe again.”

According to local media, wildlife sightings in Colombia have increased since the COVID-19 lockdown, particularly in urban areas where animals feel safe enough to wander the empty streets.

According to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University, Colombia has reported 1,161 cases of COVID-19 resulting in 19 related deaths.
