Accident Victims Hug In Street After Being Sent Flying By Driver Who Mixed Up Pedals

This is the moment two accident victims hug each other after being rammed by a bungling motorist who mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals.

The accident took place in the district of Gursu in the north-western Turkish province of Bursa on 13th February.

According to reports, the driver, named as Syrian national Mahmut A., who had just received his licence, rammed into a group of people after mixing up his car pedals.

Three people, named Gulsum A., Ahmet A. and Mevlide S., were reported as injured. One victim suffered a fractured leg while the others sustained minor injuries.

The emergency services arrived on the scene to take the injured victims to local hospitals while the police placed Mahmut A. under arrest.

The driver was released from custody shortly after giving a statement, according to the news site Haberler.

He told officers that he mixed up the car pedals while manoeuvring around an oncoming minibus.

In the footage, Mahmut’s car is seen ploughing into three pedestrians before two of them immediately hug and check on each other in the street.

Local shop worker Cebrail Beyaztas, who helped the injured pedestrians, said: “As far we know, he stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake. He had just got his driver’s licence and the vehicle was rented.”
