This is the shocking moment an abseiling commando falls from a helicopter during war game exercises.

The incident took place outside the city of Tabuk in the north-western Saudi Arabian state of the same name as the army carried out training exercises.

In footage filmed by an onlooker and posted to YouTube where it has received over 60,000 views, the helicopter is seen hovering above an arid landscape as one abseiling soldier prepares to lower himself to the ground far below.

However, for unknown reasons, another Saudi serviceman drops from the chopper just as the soldier starts to descend.

The victim plummets to the ground, and although he appears to slow his fall halfway down, the commando is unable to control his body weight and he drops hard to the sandy terrain below where it was later confirmed he had died.

Colleagues gasp as the man hits the ground and the clip ends abruptly.

The unnamed commando was a member of the Saudi army’s 85th regiment, according to local media.

It is unclear whether the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia are investigating the serviceman’s death.

Netizen ‘Exs Lit’ commented: “May Allah have mercy on his soul.”

While ‘Maryam Al Zahrani’ said: “The guy is my uncle’s son. God bless him.”
