This video – seen over 13 million times – showed a distraught mother screaming for help after her young daughter was crushed on an inflatable slide that collapsed at a holiday resort.

The accident, which claimed the life of the eight-year-old girl surnamed Cai, happened at the popular Fengda International Hot Spring Holiday Resort on the afternoon of 20th July.

The girl and her mum were among dozens of tourists – including adults and children – playing on the giant inflatable water slide in the city of Huangshan in East China’s Anhui Province.

According to reports, the top of the inflatable structure partially collapsed at around 4pm local time, sending the girl tumbling into the folding material.

Video taken by a witness shows numerous tourists gathered around the child’s mother who is shouting in distress at the sight of her unconscious daughter.

She can be heard screaming: “Call an ambulance! Has anyone called an ambulance!”

The authorities said the girl was taken to Huangshan People’s Hospital for treatment but was ultimately declared dead after failed attempts to revive her.

A government stated revealed that four other tourists were injured during the collapse, but they were not in any life-threatening condition.

It is still unclear why the inflatable water slide – dubbed ‘Deep Sea Treasure’ – collapsed.

An unnamed female staff member told local media the accident was likely caused by overcrowding, despite tourist numbers having been regulated on the day of the incident.

It is still unclear how many people were on the inflatable structure at the time of the collapse, with investigations still ongoing.
