This 5-year-old girl was killed on a family holiday in Turkey after the electric bike she was cycling plunged off a mountain road and into a canyon.

The tragic accident happened when parents Dmitry and Ekaterina Sugubovy had decided to take their two children, Aleksey, 10, and a girl, Maria, 5, on holiday to Turkey.

The family of four wanted to catch the last sun before the arrival of the long Russian winter, and travelled to the seaside resort of Kemer district in south-western Turkey to enjoy the warm weather.

In order to make their stay even more memorable, Dmitry and Elena decided to rent a electric bike for three people and squeezes the little one in the middle.

The family had then travelled to the Goynuk Canyon located inside the Beydaglari Coastal National Park which is famous for its waterfalls and ponds, and is accessible by either a 45 minute walk or a ride on any off-road vehicle or motorcycle.

But while making the journey, Russian media report that Dmitry lost control of the bike, which then dropped into the canyon.

The child landed on rocks and suffered severe head injuries, and her desperate dad scrabbled down to rescue her and then brought her back onto the road where they flagged down passers-by to take them to hospital.

However, medics in Kemer were unable to save little Maria, and she died from her injuries.

The other three members of the family suffered minor scratches and bruises.
