These images show the end of a paintbrush that was stuck in the head of a four-year-old girl for six months and only noticed when pus began dripping from her ear.

The metal paintbrush fragment, complete with the bristles themselves, became stuck between the girl’s skull and her throat when she fell with the brush in her mouth in the city of Kemerovo in the Kemerovo Oblast of southern Russia.

The girl had the brush handle taken out of her mouth but the metal-rimmed brush and bristles themselves stayed inside her body.

The four-year-old, who has not been named in reports, was not bothered by the fragment lodged in her head but a few days ago pus began dripping from her ear canal.

The girl’s parent took her to the doctors where they found the paintbrush fragment.

Images taken from scans show the paintbrush in the girl’s skull.

She underwent surgery to remove the paintbrush and Kemerovo hospital have confirmed that the foreign object was removed from the pterygopalatine fossa – the space between the throat and the skull.

Photos taken after the operation show the part of the paintbrush which was removed from the girl’s throat.

The girl is in a stable condition and is recovering from the operation.
