This is the moment a crying toddler with his head trapped in a concrete cylinder has to be rescued by the fire service using a drill.

The unnamed three-year-old from the city of Zhoukou in China’s central province of Henan shoved in head into the narrow gap of what firefighters later identified as a borehole cover.

The fire service was called to help the boy after his parents said they could not free their “naughty” son from the centre of the cylinder made from concrete and reinforced steel.

The tot’s family said the boy was playing on his own and shoved his head into cylinder when they were not paying attention.

Footage of the rescue shows the boy wearing a red T-shirt lying helplessly on the ground as the giant concrete object is stuck around his head.

With only his neck visible to rescuers, the boy is held steady by firefighters as they begin chiselling away the concrete using a small pneumatic drill.

The boy took some 40 minutes to rescue, the fire service said, with the child seen crying and red-faced when he is finally freed an hour after trapping himself.

The child is not believed to have been harmed during the accident.
