This is the 28-year-old woman who says she has happily married this 70-year-old man even though he only paid her parents a 2.70-GBP dowry.

The woman, who has not been named in reports, reportedly met her OAP husband when she was in a forest collecting water on the Indonesian island of Java.

Local media report the pair began talking and became friends when the elderly man, whose name has not been reported, started visiting the woman at her home.

The pair reportedly became inseparable and within four months decided to get married.

They were married on 27th November with the blessings of their respective families. After the pair’s marriage photos were posted online netizens reportedly speculated that the young wife had chosen her husband for his money.

However, local media report the man had actually only paid a dowry of just 50,000 IDR (2.70 GBP) to the bride. At Islamic weddings in Indonesia, the groom or the father of the groom reportedly has to give money or possessions to the bride as a dowry.

The wife told reporters she was happy to marry her pensioner husband despite their age gap. She says her husband has experience in raising a family and knows how to care for children, something she was looking for in a spouse.
