A 27-year-old man has been arrested for shooting dead his pretty ex-girlfriend and her male pal during a birthday bash that he allegedly organised to lure them to their deaths.

According to local media, Muhammed Gursoy was celebrating his 27th birthday and he invited his ex-girlfriend Merve Kotan and her pal Ekim Turkmen to come to a park in the city of Aydin in the south-western Turkish province of the same name.

Reports said that Gursoy argued with his ex-partner about her male friend Turkmen one week before their death.

On the fateful day, the suspect reportedly called Kotan and invited them both to the park to celebrate his 27th birthday.

Gursoy allegedly told them that it was a good opportunity to make peace and the pair accepted.

According to local media, the trio enjoyed drinks at the birthday bash and after a while, the suspect stepped aside for a couple of minutes before returning with a shotgun.

Gursoy allegedly killed both of them at the scene.

Kotan’s older sister Merve said: “She was only 19 years old and did not deserve to die. She loved animals so much. She was the youngest in our family.

According to reports, the suspect was arrested a couple of hours after the alleged shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
