This is the shocking moment a Romanian BWM driver speeds at over 200kph and calls his fellow citizens respecting the COVID-19 lockdown measures “retards”.

The incident was filmed in Valea Canapii in the commune of Unirea located in the south-eastern Romanian county of Braila, and the footage was later shared on YouTube where it has been viewed 65,000 times.

According to reports, the unnamed 23-year-old BMW driver deleted the video from his social media page shortly after uploading it, but it had already been copied by netizens and circulated on networks.

The local police became aware of the video and the offender has reportedly been charged with several traffic violations, including speeding, driving without a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while behind the wheel.

He was also reportedly charged with making offensive remarks and humiliating people.

In the footage, the BMW driver is heard boasting: “You are all sitting at home in isolation, you are stupid and retarded. Look at me, I go wherever I want. Look at the speedometer

“Even if the police saw me, I’d just give them 200-300 EUR and get my driving licence back.”

At least three other people are seen in the car with him.

According to local media, the driver was fined 5,000 RON (900 GBP) while the other passengers were fined 2,000 RON (360 GBP) each for breaking the lockdown rules and not possessing necessary documents.
