A 20-month-old baby girl has died in the hospital due to injuries caused by repeated sex abuse and her dad has been arrested.
The girl, who did not have a name as she was not registered, lived in the municipality of Villa de Zaachila, in the city of Oaxaca, in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca.
Early this February, the girl was taken to the Children’s hospital in Oaxaca in pain and suffering from fever symptoms.
Doctors attended the baby and noticed signs of physical and sexual abuse and cops were called in.
Officers interviewed the parents, named Ernesto and Maria Elena.
The baby died days later due to dehydration and the injuries caused by the alleged sexual abuse.
The mother of the baby reportedly asked for the infant’s body but was not allowed to take it as she could not produce a birth certificate and DNA tests needed to be carried out.
The baby’s father was arrested over the infant’s death. He had previously been charged with rape in a separate instance although it is unclear if he was convicted.
Three other kids under the couple’s care were reportedly found in a bad condition and with signs of physical and sexual abuse. The kids were taken into care by Oaxaca social services while the investigation is ongoing.
