Two men bit of a chunk of each other’s ears in a row about a 2GBP debt.

Mr Shen, 24, reportedly borrowed 20 RMB (2 GBP) from his then-colleague Mr Yang, 26, in order to buy a pack of cigarettes in early 2018.

At the time, the pair were working together in the city of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province in East China, until Mr Shen changed jobs.

According to reports, Mr Yang contacted his ex-coworker about the money owed but his request to settle the debt was refused.

After being ultimately blocked on instant-messaging application WeChat, an angry Mr Yang decided to track Mr Shen down in person.

In a statement given to Xiasha Police Station, Mr Shen claims his former colleague found and confronted him with a metal pole on 9th November.

The pair argued and fought over the 2 GBP, and he grabbed onto Mr Yang and bit his ear.

Mr Yang responded in kind and tore off half of Mr Shen’s ear, reports said.

The authorities said a piece of Mr Yang’s ear was also missing, but his injuries were more minor.

The pair were treated at a local hospital, but it was not immediately clear whether their missing ear flesh could be reattached or replaced with grafts in the future.

The case is still under investigation. No charges had been announced against either man at the time of writing.
