This is the moment a pretty 18-year-old woman is killed when she steps off a bus after the driver opens the doors while the vehicle is still in motion.

When she steps off the bus then appears to run her over.

Reports said that the bus driver, identified as Y. K., has since been found guilty of fault in the incident and remanded in custody by a Turkish court after the passenger was killed in Kocaeli Province in north-western Turkey.

According to local media, 18-year-old Gunay Gonulacar was travelling on the bus between the districts of Dilovasi and Gebze when tragedy struck.

As she approached her stop near a shopping centre she planned to visit, the driver opened the doors while the bus was still in motion.

As seen in the video footage, the pretty teenager descends the steps and walks straight out of the moving bus.

The driver appears to warn the victim a second too late and she is heard hitting the tarmac with a thud.

Her exact injuries and cause of death have not been reported.

Gonulacar was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital, however doctors could do nothing to save the young woman.

The local police launched an investigation and Y.K. was arrested. He was referred to court where he had been found guilty and remanded in custody.

In the Turkish legal system, suspects appear in court shortly after arrest and a verdict is often reached quickly, although sentencing can take longer.
