A teenager has been arrested and charged over the rape of a 62-year-old woman who had been out for a morning walk in a French Park.
The female OAP was raped while exercising at the Etang Saint-Nicolas park in Angers in the western French department of Maine-et-Loire on Friday, January 31 at around 8:30 a.m when it was still dark.
The teenage suspect was indicted yesterday (Tuesday).
According to local media, the woman said that she became aware someone was following her as she was walking, and she had tried to speed up in order to get away before her attacker caught up near the nearby Monument Aux Fusilles.
She said the attacker punched her, and then threatened her with a pair of scissors before raping her.
Her alleged rapist was allegedly identified by his DNA and was indicted immediately afterwards.
Detectives said they matched the sample from the suspect with samples taken from the scene and also based on reports from two witnesses.
He was arrested on Sunday not far from the scene of the attack, and was described only as a minor who until now had not had any run-ins with the police or courts.
