This is the talented Romanian teenager who is being compared to Barbadian pop superstar Rihanna and English singer Jorja Smith.

Mara Georgescu, 15, from the southern Romanian capital Bucharest, told Central European News (CEN): “I started singing with an allegretto choir when I was about three and a half. I always wanted to sing because it makes me feel special, but I did not have the courage to tell my parents.

“At the same time, they had registered me with the choir and it was a surprise for me that my parent’s decision matched my own dreams.”

The teenager recently released her debut song ‘Gin Gin’ in collaboration with Romanian composer F. Cham who also directed the music video.

Mara said: “I used to take part in music contests and festivals in Romania and Bulgaria such as winter festivals and other events.

“I took part in charity projects, singing for kids with disabilities. I was a child myself at the time and I remember how emotional it felt.”

Talking about ‘Gin Gin’, produced by Lanoy Records, Mara told CEN: “The song was released a few days ago and it is my debut single. I hope it reaches the charts, because the sound and beat are popular right now and appreciated by the public and specialists in the field.”

Her voice is so good, many people believe Mara is a foreign artist and local media compare her to Barbadian superstar Rihanna and British singer Jorja Smith.

Mara told CEN: “My parents support me. They sometimes do not like the songs I’m singing, but they understand that I filter myself and do the songs I want to sing.

“I haven’t started looking outside of Romania yet, but I am planning to. For the moment, I am working with my team to build up a catalogue of songs I can perform with.”
