This is the moment a man and a 10-year-old boy – reportedly father and son – are sent somersaulting through the air by an oncoming rally car after they sneaked onto the track on a motorbike.

Argentinian rally racer Mauro Debasa, and his co-pilot Maximiliano Karamatich were competing in the Vuelta de la Manzana race held in Gran Roca in the Argentinian province of Rio Negro when the incident occurred.

Local media report a father and son managed to avoid security at the rally competition and entered the racetrack on a motorbike despite the fact the rally organisers had increased security prior to the accident.

The video shows Debasa and Karamatich coming off a turn and brutally hitting the bike in a head-on collision before coming to an abrupt stop.

The man and boy are sent somersaulting through the air as debris from the bike and rally car scatter all around the scene while the rally car remains motionless.

The two victims have not been named by local media.

The rally was stopped to treat the two. Reports state the 10-year-old boy suffered a broken femur in one of his legs but it is unclear which leg. The man reportedly suffered a dislocated and fractured hip.

Both victims were reportedly treated in a nearby hospital and there are no updates on their condition.

Debasa and Karamatich did not suffer any physical injuries, however reports state the two were “in a state of shock” after the accident.

It is unclear why the man and boy were riding on the track.
