This is the shocking moment a young woman is sent crashing to the ground by a taxi after standing in the middle of the road to test her boyfriend in an argument.

The incident, which saw the boyfriend then end up arguing with the cabbie, took place in the city of Zhuhai in the south-eastern Chinese province of Guangdong and was filmed by several CCTV cameras mounted along Jiuzhou Road.

In the video, a young couple appears to be quarrelling at the side of a busy intersection.

After pushing and shoving each other, the boyfriend walks off while the woman, identified as Ms. He, goes to stand on her own on the zebra crossing in the middle of the road.

After a period of defiantly standing with her back to her boyfriend, she then starts to walk towards him.

However, the lights have changed and oncoming cars turn into the road where she is crossing.

A taxi hits the woman and she is sent flying. The boyfriend is seen coming over and he appears to remonstrate with the cabbie.

According to local media, the woman stood in the road to see if her boyfriend would come back for her.

Reports also said that she had been drinking alcohol before the accident.

An ambulance was called after the collision and the boyfriend reportedly argued with the taxi driver and kicked his cab until they arrived.

Meanwhile, Ms. He was transferred to a nearby hospital.

As the taxi driver broke hard before hitting the woman, she is not badly hurt, according to reports.

It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the accident.
