Luckily, the hiker had her phone with her and she called the emergency services.

With the bear trap biting into the woman’s ankle, firefighters and medics were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutters on the trap and successfully freed the woman in several minutes, according to local media.

Even though the hiker’s ankle injury was not too serious, officials carried her down the mountain and rushed her to hospital.

Following checks, doctors told the woman that she should expect to make a full recovery.

It is unclear whether local authorities are investigating the incident.

In the video footage, firefighters help the woman as she sits on the ground with her right ankle stuck in the trap.

At the end, she is seen being lifted out of the bear trap after they prised it open.
