This is the moment a man slides along an icy road in his wellies while only using a pole for support in a viral video that has been seen by nearly two million people.

The incident took place in the south-eastern Romanian county of Braila and was filmed by a stunned resident who shared the footage on Facebook where it has gone viral, being viewed some 1.9 million times in three days..

According to local media, the slick slider is called Ilie.

In the video, Ilie is seen wearing a thick jacket as he smoothly slides along the road using only a wooden pole for support and to occasionally gather up speed.

Ilie appears to be wearing a normal pair of wellies, although it is unknown if the soles were specially adapted for the icy conditions.

As he joyfully whizzes down the road, several neighbours come out to cheer him on.

Netizens had a lot to say about the amusing video. ‘Mar Cos Tet’ commented: “This is how Romanians go to the pub, the problem is getting home afterwards!”

‘Vladut Mihai’ said: “He is quick! He could be a good delivery man!”

‘Lonel Dedu’ warned: “Watch how you go, you may end up getting a speeding ticket!”
