This viral video with over three million views shows a bungling woman driver speeding through a crossroads backwards and crashing into a parked forklift.

The female motorist, who has not been named, was lucky not to have collided with any other vehicles as she crashed to a stop in the city of Hefei, the capital of East China’s Anhui Province.

Traffic camera footage shows her orange SUV inexplicably reversing through the junction, jerking at different speeds as it travels in a straight line towards the opposite pavement.

Two cars which had set off during a green light are fortunately able to brake in time as the woman’s car reverses past them into the side of the parked forklift, which suffered minimal damage compared to the driver’s SUV.

The woman, who was cleared of drink-driving, revealed she had been trying to turn into her residential area when she accidentally shifted into the wrong gear and ended up reversing instead.

In her panic, she also appeared to be repeatedly stepping on the accelerator pedal while trying to brake her car.

Hefei police said no one was injured during the accident, but the woman is expected to be held fully liable for the crash.

Social media users who have watched the clip more than three million times have nearly 2,000 comments, too.

‘Zhaolaokuan A’ wrote: “At first I thought the video was playing in reverse.”

‘Qingzhen Zhu’er’ added: “Some people just aren’t meant to drive, regardless of whether they’re male or female.”
