This footage in central Istanbul shows two rival cab firms in a deadly shotgun shootout that only ended after three people were dead and three more were injured.

The gun battle – which later reportedly led to one of the gunmen taking his own life – was caught on CCTV cameras in Turkey’s biggest city of Istanbul.

It reportedly broke out after one man produced a shotgun during a heated argument over routes between two rival groups of minibus operators.

Passersby are seen running for cover as other people involved in the dispute pull out handguns and bullets start to fly.

The man with the shotgun is seen using the weapon as a club after presumably running out of ammunition.

Two brothers, named by police as Firat Yildiz and Sahin Yildiz, and their cousin, Idris Yildiz, were shot dead in the gun battle.

Three more people, whose names have not been released, were critically injured and taken to the nearby Arnavutkoy State Hospital for treatment.

Police said the man seen in the video firing a handgun was Yasar Yildiz who lost his two brothers and his cousin in the gunfight.

He reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head outside his house the next day as people offered their condolences.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, in the Arnavutkoy district on the European side of the city. No arrests have yet been made.
