This is the moment a university student is hit and killed by a car while running away from a barking dog with his friends while celebrating his birthday.

The shocking incident took place in Quezon City, located on the Guadalupe Plateau just north-east of Manila in the Philippines, and was filmed by nearby CCTV cameras.

The footage was shared on Facebook where it has been viewed over 500,000 times.

The other teens check on him as the dog turns and runs back down the side street.

The victim has been identified as 20-year-old student Joshua Cabag.

Sadly, he was celebrating his birthday with pals when the unfortunate incident took place.

According to local media, Cabag was on his way to a friend’s house with three other students when tragedy struck.

He was rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital, but died shortly afterwards.

Meanwhile, none of the other students were reported as hurt.

The victim’s friend Chrisha Lingad said that students honoured his birthday by lighting a candle at the crash site.

She added: “That was when the owner of the CCTV approached us and gave us (the footage). We posted it (online) so people can help us one way or another to find justice for our friend.”

Cabag was studying to be a teacher and was expected to graduate in the summer.

The police are investigating the accident and do not yet know the motorist’s identity.
