This is the heart-stopping moment a rider is knocked off his scooter by some forklift prongs that catch the top of his helmet and send him sprawling.

The scooter rider, surnamed Li, can be seen riding between the forklift and a lorry, both of which are parked on a narrow road in the city of Changshu City in East China’s Jiangsu Province.

Li fails to notice the metal prongs of the forklift which have been raised to the same height as his head.

The video shows him riding straight into the forks, which hit his head and knock him straight off his scooter.

As the injured rider lies on the ground, the shocked forklift driver quickly heads over to his vehicle and lowers the prongs.

Local police have called Li “lucky”, saying he survived the accident with no serious injuries thanks to his motorcycle helmet.

He was taken to hospital nonetheless and treated for minor bruising, the authorities said.

The police did not say whether the forklift driver would be punished for apparently failing to properly park the vehicle.

Social media user ‘Ningcai Qiuyu Bucaichen’ wrote: “It would’ve been really hard to spot the thin forks.”

‘Kong Xiansen’ added: “What did the forklift driver think would happen by parking that way?”

‘Cun Xuankang’ said: “A few inches higher and he was done for.”
