A 38-year-old mother has been arrested for stabbing her husband 185 times after she reportedly caught him trying to rape her teenage daughter.

According to local media, Paola Cordoba arrived home in the city of Jose C. Paz in the eastern Argentine province of Buenos Aires and found her husband Alberto Elvio Nairetti trying to rape their 18-year-old daughter.

Reports said that he was in the process of hitting her and trying to take advantage of the young victim while her mother was out.

The emergency services were called to the scene, but the 46-year-old man had already died of his injuries.

Forensic experts said that he had been stabbed 185 times in the chest, back and abdomen.

Police seized two blood-soaked kitchen knives and arrested both the mother and daughter, according to local media.

The mother has reportedly confessed to carrying out the homicide although it is unknown if her 18-year-old daughter also took part.

Local media claimed that Nairetti has a criminal past while several of Cordoba’s relatives said that he abused his wife for over 20 years.

Her sister Maria claimed that Nairetti forced Cordoba to work as a prostitute alongside her cleaning job and took all the money she earned.

Meanwhile, outraged local residents are planning a demonstration outside the police station where both women are being held on social media because they believe that the homicide was carried out in self defence.

The investigation is ongoing.
