This is the moment an enraged mother repeatedly whips her screaming son with a cable as he lies on the floor in footage lasting over three minutes.

The shocking incident was reportedly recorded by the victim’s half-brother at the shop where the mother works in the city of Durango in the Mexican state of the same name.

In the video, the mother, who has not been named in reports, can be seen stood over her cowering son, 17, who is sat in a corner.

The mother then repeatedly whips the teenager, who has not been named in reports, as he cries out for her to stop.

The abuse goes on for three minutes, with the mother ignoring her son’s pleas for her to stop as she repeatedly whips him.

The teenager is left lying on the ground covering his head as his mother continues whipping him.

Local media report the video was recorded by the victim’s half-brother and later placed handed into the authorities.

The footage is being investigated by the Durango authorities and local media report prosecutors went to the family home and rescued the teenage boy along with his half-brothers, 11 and eight.

Prosecutor Ruth Medina Aleman told reporters that the stepfather of the victim, who is the father of the other two boys, had gone to the authorities with the video in order to officially report the case.

The authorities have requested the three boys undergo psychological and physical checks.

The victim’s step-father is looking after the three children as the investigation is ongoing and Jose Vidal Silerio, member of the department of Children and Teenager Protection, told reporters the father had claimed the woman had physically abused him too.

Silerio said: “The father of the other two children also claimed that there was a level of violence against him. The lady also has a criminal record as she has previously been jailed in a social reinsertion centre.”

Silerio said the video, which has only just surfaced, was not recent but said the victim still had injuries on his body when he was rescued.

The mother has reportedly fled and the authorities are searching for her to make an arrest.
