This is the moment a man with a huge knife in his back calmly waits for a taxi to take him to hospital.

The startling scene was recorded by an onlooker in the popular nightlife district of Wanchaq, in the southern Peruvian province of Cusco.

Local media report the 25-year-old victim, who has not been named in reports, had been stabbed in the back during a bar fight and his friends then called a taxi to take him to a nearby hospital instead of calling an ambulance.

In the video, the victim can be seen standing on the pavement with two friends and a huge blade is sticking out of his back.

The victim then leans his head on a friend who helps keep him upright. Reports state he decided not to remove the blade from his back in case it caused further damage.

Local media report he was taken to the hospital and treated for his wound.

Residents in the area complained to local media about the number of problems accused by the nightclubs, bars and brothels in the area.

No arrests have been reported.
