This footage shows a young girl stuck under a train after she fell through the platform gap while her dad was staring at his mobile phone.

Footage shared to Chinese social media sites shows the crying girl wearing pink and standing at the bottom of the stopped train, barely visible in the platform gap at Mingzhu Railway Station.

She can be heard crying: “Dad!” as a man tries to comfort her from high on the platform in the city of Zhuhai City in South China’s Guangdong Province.

Railway staff said the incident happened on 23rd January seconds after the train pulled into the station.

They had reportedly announced to travellers to beware of the platform gap, but the parent was “staring at his phone” and “in a rush to get on”.

He failed to notice his daughter who accidentally walked onto the gap and slipped through, falling onto the tracks below.

Railway staff say the girl was eventually pulled to safety and returned to her parent uninjured.
