This is the moment a cabbie is kicked in the head and punched by a drunk passenger who mistakenly thinks he has intentionally driven past their destination.

The taxi driver, who has been identified only by his surname Yin, picked up the drunk suspect and his girlfriend in the early hours of the morning on 17th January.

Security footage from his taxi shows the couple sitting in the back seat during their ride in the city of Zunyi in south-western China’s Guizhou Province.

Yin says the male passenger suddenly requested that he do a U-turn and let them off at another destination, and in the footage the cabbie tells him they have yet to arrive.

The confused passenger seems to believe Yin has intentionally driven past the destination and is trying to charge them extra by driving further.

This leads to him extending his leg between the two front seats and kicking Yin in the side of the head.

As his girlfriend tries in vain to restrain him, the passenger then launches himself at the cabbie, choking him with his left arm while punching him in the face with his right hand.

Yin, who continued to be abused and punched for the next few minutes, said he was forced to pull over in order to avoid an accident.

The clip ends with Yin getting out the car and the passengers stumbling out after him.

He was rescued by passing pedestrians who helped restrain the passenger and call the police.

Yin is now receiving treatment at the First People’s Hospital, Zunyi authorities say.

The police said the passenger was arrested but was deemed too drunk to be questioned at the time.

Further investigation is under way.

Yin is not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.
