This incredible footage shows a stunned driver standing up from the wreckage of his wrecked Fiat moments after its roof was shaven clean off by an overturning concrete mixer lorry.

The close shave happened in Hannan District in the city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province in Central China.

Authorities say the accident occurred when both vehicles collided a junction, with the overturning lorry falling onto and over the smaller red car on 14th February.

While the lorry narrowly avoided landing on top of and crushing the car, the impact caused the vehicle’s roof to be ripped off.

It is still unclear whether either vehicle had run a red light prior to the crash.

Images taken in the aftermath show the stunned driver still in his seat when witnesses approach him.

He manages to stand up in the now roofless vehicle and looks towards the concrete mixer lorry which was inches away from crushing him to death.

The driver suffered a broken rib but was otherwise not seriously injured, authorities say.

The police who are still investigating the incident said both drivers were cleared of drink-driving.
