A manhunt is underway after a knifeman killed his ex-wife’s boyfriend before going on the rampage and stabbing 19 other people.

Footage of the attacks allegedly shows the suspect surnamed Hou, 48, dashing through the street and slashing random passers-by in the city of Fuzhou, capital of East China’s Fujian Province.

He jabs the blade into nearby targets seemingly at random, leaving them injured while immediately running away.

Police say this is after he accosted his ex-wife, surnamed Huang, and her boyfriend, surnamed Zou, in their residence.

During the violent confrontation, Hou allegedly inflicted fatal knife wounds on Zou, who was declared dead despite efforts to save him.

Authorities say the knifeman then stole an electric scooter, stabbing the owner in the process to get it, before making a getaway.

Some 19 others suffered knife wounds, including one who is reportedly critical and still in treatment.

Hou was last seen jumping into a river and evading arrest, police say.

The search is still under way for the at-large knifeman, whose motives have been reported as “relationship troubles”.

It is unclear whether the suspect had injured in wife during the incident.
