Cop Stands On Bridge Edge To Prevent Woman From Jumping

This is the moment a hero cop joins a suicidal young woman on the edge of a motorway bridge and puts his own life at risk by holding onto her until colleagues can reach her and drag her to safety.

The 22-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, had climbed through a security fence and over railings to stand over a sheer drop onto the motorway below.

But the brave police officer, who was not named, followed her and then stood in front of her with his arms wrapped around her to prevent her from jumping.

Another police officers with a smartphone filmed the dramatic scene as it unfolded in the Argentinian capital city of Buenos Aires.

The footage shows more police officers approaching the crying woman, from behind, and then cutting through the fence before grabbing her.

She can be heard shouting out: “Don’t touch me!”, but the cops ignore her as they lift her up from under her arms and carry her to safety as she screams.

The woman, who was reportedly depressed following the death of a member of her family, was not hurt but she was taken to hospital for treatment and to be checked over.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident which happened on a bridge over the Perito Moreno motorway in the Parque Avellaneda area of Buenos Aires.

Netizen ‘Mara Mara’ commented: “The police reacted well… putting themselves at risk as well!”, while ‘Estela Aranda’ simply added: “Sad…”
