This is the heart-stopping moment a pedicab driver is pulled on fire from his burning vehicle after it collided with a hatchback and burst into flames.

Traffic cameras in the city of Ji’an in East China’s Jiangxi Province show the cabbie, surnamed Long, appearing to make an illegal right turn when he is hit from the left by an approaching car.

The Chinese-made Cherry hatchback, driven by Tang, crashes into the pedicab and the smaller vehicle’s petrol tank appears to explode into flames, engulfing the car too.

Mobile phone video shows Long, whose clothing is completely ablaze, being pulled from the wreckage of his pedicab by heroic rescuers.

He survived the scare with severe burns to his legs, but reports say two passengers were not so lucky.

One died in the inferno, while the other has been hospitalised with serious injuries, authorities said.

Members of the fire service eventually put out the raging fire which left both vehicles nothing more than charred wrecks.

The hatchback driver is believed to have escaped following the initial collision and did not come to any harm.

Local police are still investigating the case.
