This is the incredible moment a car crashes into a tree and misses a street cleaner by inches.

The unnamed sanitation worker’s “brush with death”, as it has been dubbed in reports, happened in the town of Binhai in Wenling City in China’s eastern Zhejiang Province.

CCTV footage shows the middle-aged cleaner with his broom and dustpan in hand as he walks on the grassy verge next to the road.

The driver, surnamed Wu, 48, comes hurtling towards him and inexplicably begins veering towards the right side of the road – in the direction of the worker in a high-visibility vest.

The cleaner, who has not been named, is completely oblivious to the danger and does not even flinch as the car brushes past his shoulder, missing him by inches, before crashing into a metal pole and then a tree.

The accident wrecks the front end of Wu’s car, sending one of his wheels rolling away after the crash, the video shows.

In the footage, the sanitation worker, who was completely unharmed, stops in his tracks and turns around to look at the crash he has just avoided.

Local authorities said Wu is a veteran driver of 14 years who appeared to suffer a lapse in concentration moments before the crash.

He was not seriously injured and is expected to be 100 percent liable for the accident.
