Suddenly, a man floats down the hill at speed and is unable to slow himself down.

A waiting cop grabs the man’s hand and tries to haul him out of the fast-moving ‘river’, however he needs the help of a kindly onlooker who runs out of a shop to assist.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, heavy storms have battered parts of central Ecuador with more rainfall expected throughout the week.

Reports said that the local authorities attended 11 emergencies in the capital city, including cases of flooded homes, fallen trees and collapsed roofs.

Netizen ‘Bhaskaraljir’ commented: “Well done to the brave cop. Honest people like him are needed in Ecuador, with no personal agenda.”

‘Gevg000’ added: “I’m glad the officer and the citizen both helped the guy. I am less impressed with the people laughing and filming the man’s dangerous situation.”
