The pictures show the horrific injuries 23-year-old Mara Andrijasevic sustained when she was allegedly attacked by her boyfriend, 23-year-old lorry driver Dejan Sredic in the central Croatian city of Sisak.

The suspect has been detained and charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) and with issuing death threats against her and her children. He faces up to eight years in prison if found guilty, according to local media.

Local media reported that the attack happened after the woman told the suspect “not to be so nervous” in her home.

Andrijasevic, who dreamed of becoming a model, told local media: “My children from another relationship were sleeping in their room when he attacked me in the hallway.

“I told him to not be so nervous in my home and to go to his parent’s house if he was feeling anxious.”

“After that he immediately slammed the glass in my face.”

Andrijasevic said that her sister rushed her to hospital where she received stitches to the multiple cuts on her forehead and face.

Meanwhile, Sredic was also reportedly hospitalised at the same time with a hand injury.

The victim claims that she was unable to report her boyfriend to the police right away because he threatened her life and those of her children.

She was quoted in local media as saying: “I didn’t report it to the police at the time because he was threatening me that a darkness would swallow me and that my children would disappear from the face of the Earth.”

Andrijasevic, who has been in a relationship with the suspect for 6 months, said that it was the first time he had ever been aggressive.

However, Sredic’s family is reportedly furious that the victim has gone public with the allegations, and the father reportedly confronted Andrijasevic at her home.

She said: “He and his father claim I cannot prove anything.”
