A Russian MP has warned that watching pornography can make children infertile.

Member of the Russian Parliament Yelena Mizulina, 62, made the bizarre statement at the Secure Internet Forum.

The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building noted that pornography presents a serious challenge for growing generations.

She said: "These days experts say that we are facing a new type of internet addiction that can be compared to those from drugs."

Mrs Mizulina stressed that porn addiction changes a person’s character and way of thinking while growing up.

She added: "Thirty percent of children, three out of ten, are suffering from infertility."

Mrs Mizulina advocates for creating a so-called internet for children that would protect youngsters from adult material.

She also mentioned that she feared some of her colleagues planned on ruining her image and wanted to block her internet initiative.

Netizen ‘dozhniy dvornik’ said: "I wonder, how did she come up to connecting porn and infertility? This lady needs to get laid, big time."

And ‘Zhanna Surovaya’ added: "She operated with some kind of lunatic statistics. Such a silly woman, no wonder her colleagues don’t like her."

Mrs Mizulina has unusually held public office representing four different political parties: the Communist Party, the liberal Yabloko and Union of Right Forces parties and now the A Just Russia party, a social democratic group.
