A horrified father watched his four-year-old daughter be crushed to death by a crane truck as they crossed a road to get to her school.
The tragic youngster - named only as Saanvi by officials in Jaipur, northern India - had been holding her dad's hand when the giant truck mowed her down.
Witnesses say the pair had been on a central reservation on a busy road when the truck driver caught her with a front tyre and dragged her under the vehicle.
The mobile crane swept the young schoolgirl away from her father's grip and she was crushed as she fell underneath the huge vehicle.
Bystanders comforted the girl's distraught father Sanjeev Dharma Singh Meena and covered his daughter's mangled body with a white sheet.
Only her leg, sticking out at a gruesome angle, can be seen emerging from the covering.
Police are quizzing the truck driver and have confiscated the mobile crane for safety tests.
Officials at Saint Anselm's School told local media they have made repeated requests to police for a pedestrian crossing officer.
But despite offering to pay, says the school, they have not even received a reply.
