A priest and ethics lecturer who was pictured half-undressed at a strip club claims the pictures of him were faked.
Two photos appear to show Victor Svistunov in a game with strippers at a club in the city of Rostov on Don in south-western Russia's Rostov Oblast region.
In one, the bearded young churchman is shown chuckling with a beautiful young woman as he pulls down his trousers.
In the other he is hugging the girl and, showing support for at least one saviour of mankind, a Superman logo is visible on his underpants.
The strip show by the young priest was allegedly performed at the end of last year, but the pictures were posted online just recently.
Svistunov is a deacon and a professor at the Don State Technical University.
He teaches "The culture of ethical principles" at the university.
One of the many netizens who commented on the pictures said: "There goes the culture and the ethical principles!"
"It is the work of the devil, for sure!" commented another.
The priest himself has stated that the pictures were "fake".
He said: "During Lent I only appear in two places - the church and the University. I am not going to comment on this "fake".
"Happy Easter everyone! I would kindly ask the media and netizens to not mention my name in these weird discussions."
