A woman who is serving 13 years behind bars for dealing drugs has been crowned the winner of a prison beauty contest.
Irina Aryupova, 36, became the winner of this year's Miss Spring - the third annual beauty pageant which was held at the all-female penal colony number 7 jail located in the area of the city of Yoshkar-Ola in central Russia's Mari El Republic region.
Eight drug dealers and thieves battled it out to be crowned the most beautiful inmate.
Inmates first had to take part in a catwalk as judges, made up of guards, watched on.
They then had to take part in a dance off for round two before the third round saw them pitted against each other over who was best at doing impressions of famous Russian celebrities.
For the fourth and final round inmates were made to walk down the runway in special costumes that they had made which had to represent the year of ecology that is being celebrated in Russia this year.
Brunette beauty Irina was crowned the winner, and handed 101 roses, a crown and a makeup set as the prize.
Inmates practised for two months for the competition and were even allowed professional hair and makeup artists on the day to help them preen themselves to perfection.
Irina will be eligible for release in 2028.
