A blonde has won the title of Miss Russia for the first time in a decade.
Beauty Polina Popova from the Sverdlovsk Oblast region was crowned Miss Russia 2017 this weekend, beating off 49 other hopefuls to be crowned the winner.
For the past 10 years all of the winners have had flowing brown locks so the 21-year-old made history with her shock win.
The model has now won the chance to represent her country at Miss World and Miss Universe competitions which are set to be held later this year.
A total of 50 participants from all over the country took part in the 25th Miss Russia beauty contest, with all of the budding hopefuls aged between 18 and 23 years old.
According to the rules, the entrants could not have any tattoos, be under 5'6" tall, be married or have taken part in any "erotic photoshoots" in the past.
Polina Popova was born in Yekaterinburg in Russia and has been a model for a number of years.
She impressed judges by speaking perfect English and revealing that she is also learning Chinese.
Polina was awarded a crown of white gold, decorated with diamonds and pearls worth a million RUB (14,000 GBP). She also received a bank card with 3 million RUB (42,000 GBP) and a car.
Popova received the award from the winner of last year's contest Yana Dobrovolskaya, who comes from a town very near her home in the Ural.
Popova said: "The whole of the Urals must be renowned because the beautiful Yana Dobrovolskaya was the winner last year and she represented Tyumen. It is very nice to know that Ural is recognised and celebrated."
