A photo of a fashionista’s gnarled feet unwittingly reveals the dangers of a life spent in high heels.
Successful businesswoman and mother Yana Rudkovskaya, 42, is known for her love of fashion.
She is good friends with Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, 34, Putin’s goddaughter Ksenia Sobchak, 35, and haute-couture fashion designer Ulyana Sergeenko, 35.
Just like her friends, she attended most of the shows at January’s Paris Haute-Couture Fashion Week.
In the heat of the moment she decided to share a romantic photo of herself with a gorgeous flower basket while seated on a wide cushion stool in her hotel room.
But fans’ attention was more drawn to what they said were Ms Rudkovskaya’s malformed naked feet than to her beautiful face.
They said that her feet were covered in calluses and plasters, and that the bones had grown in strange shapes.
Netizen ‘totoshawww’ said: "Unfortunately this is what happens when you wear narrow and high-heeled shows all the time."
And ‘irbis1311’ added: "Her toes, so unsexy. Grrrrr."
Yana Rudkovskaya is married to renowned figure skater Evgeni Plushenko, 34, with whom she regularly trains, which may also affect the health of her feet.
Netizen ‘galinatvorogova’ stood up for her though, saying: "This is a wonderful photo of a beautiful woman, dear trolls please look at your feet first and only then decide if you want to criticise somebody else."
Wearing high-heeled shoes for too long and too often is known to cause conditions including corns, blisters, hammer toes, bunions (otherwise known as hallux valgus), plantar fasciitis and Morton's neuroma.
Most of these conditions are permanent unless corrected surgically.
