This is the moment 20 people rush to the aid of a young girl after she is run over by a clueless van driver.

The heart-stopping incident was captured in the county of Shuicheng in China’s south-western Guizhou Province.

CCTV footage dated 4th April shows the girl and her mother dashing across the road using a zebra crossing when the silver van fails to stop and knocks them both over at the same time.

The shocking clip then shows the daughter being driven over by the vehicle, which stops right on top of her as she disappears into the undercarriage.

However, within seconds of the accident some 20 people, including the van driver and some of its occupants, began circling the vehicle.

The girl’s mum can also be seen frantically trying to reach her.

About 15 seconds after the accident, the van is lifted onto its side, allowing the girl to be pulled free.

Shuicheng County police said the two victims had already been freed when the ambulance arrived.

The pair were found sitting injured on a nearby kerb and were taken to hospital for treatment.

They are not believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries but continue to be hospitalised.

Further investigation is ongoing.
